Even as the students made their way to school, there was this sense of excitement and anticipation around the school that something is great is going to happen. It’s the SGB@SP opening ceremony!
After most of our lessons ended, Primers began to gather around LT18A and the Primers Room. All of us were looking forward for a good time later to know more about this project.
It was soon 6pm and people started swarming in to the Lecture Theatre. Although the programme was delayed slightly due to some technical faults, the Primers and students were still kept entertained by the emcees namely Mark and Jianying.
Rock ‘n’ Roll!
The programme finally started and all of us in the LT were having fun with a few icebreakers. Guest like Mr. Lee Ee Tat (staff from SAA) also joined in and that was indeed an encouraging sight. After all the fun and laughter, it was now time for Mr. Lua Sheng Long, chairman of SGB@SP 2006 to tell us more about this project.
The presentation was short and sweet with a video presentation and a simple PowerPoint, but the message across was definitely clear and a lot benefited from it.
Our guest-of-honor, Mr. Danny Lee, captain of SP.Primers then proceeded to light up the Christmas tree as a symbolic act that this meaningful project is officially launch in SP!
If you are thinking that we are a bunch of people just concerned about work, then you are wrong. We even managed to celebrate the birthday of one of our Executive Committee member. Happy birthday Huishan!
Let us work hard and smart for the less fortunate as ONE FAMILY!

Background of SGB@SP
This is only the second year that we are running this project and some of last yearâs project statistics are as followed:
1) Collected general food items enough for 64 PA recipients.
2) Fulfilled a total of 101 wishes requested by VWOs.
3) 2 press releases, 1 radio publicity, and 1 MP commendation.
4) 2 SP Excellence in Service awards (Community Service & Campus Vibrancy)
About SGB@SP
In support of the BBSGB project and as part of the big family of the Boysâ Brigade, Singapore Polytechnic Primers Company decided to adopt some wishes as part of her small contribution to this nationwide event.
Singapore Polytechnic does not have similar community service project. As such, SP Primers decided to introduce this meaningful event to the entire SP.
We aim to collect general food items, fulfil a total wishes requested by VWOs, delivering these gifts to them and at the same time create awareness among SP staff and students.
